20 Best Inspirational Movies for Children in English

This is the first part of the series “20 Best InspirationalMovies for Children”. There are plenty of films to choose from the list of released films in English, till date. So restricting the list to just 20 movies is a tough job. Here is the list of Hollywood movies suitable for children for age 5 or 6+ years, in no particular order.

This is an excellent journey of a father son duo to overcome their respective inner fear. A great story to teach how parents should learn to let go when child grows up and also child should listen to their parents.

Cars
Among three part series Especially Part I – This does not mean you should not show him cars part 2 and 3 but this part actually created the base of remaining two parts even if the stories are not interrelated. Part I also tell a beautiful story of what a winner means in real life. This part had actually defined/built up the main character named McQueen who finds the true meaning of family and friends and true meaning of winning.

The Lion King
This is an all-time Disney classic, which tells a beautiful story about love, responsibility, strength and courage. A story based on lion cub and his triumph against all odds is a must see for any child of any age.
 
4.
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
A movie about two children who helped an Alien to escape earth. A nice story with excellent morale of friendship, love and trust beyond earth.
 
5.
Kung Fu Panda
This is what happens when you are the chosen one but find yourself obese and a complete novice at martial arts. Go ahead to watch its part 2 too. This do show up that talent will show up no matter what.
 
6.
Forrest Gump
An amazing story about Forrest Gump, while not intelligent, has accidentally been present at many historic moments. Seeing the world through his innocent mind and eyes is real thought provoking.
 
7.
The Pursuit of Happyness
Yes the Happiness with Y. A story of a struggling salesman when he took custody of his son. This whole story which is inspired from a true real life story is a must watch for any generation.
 
8.
Ocean Heaven
This is a very rare movie of Jet Li where there is no action at all. Jet Li playing a father been diagnosed with terminal disease tried to teach his Autism son how to survive in this world without him. A great movie to teach independence to someone who does not know how to learn. A movie can make even a strong hearted cry, probably without a single scene of crying.

Space Jam
It’s a classic movie about basketball match between monsters and looney tunes. After which looney tunes kidnapped Michael Jordon and go through rigorous training and triumph at the end.
 
10.
Horton Hears a Who! (2008)
This is the movie adaptation of Dr. Seuss book with same name. Horton the Elephant against all odds tried to protect a microscopic community from his neighbors who refuse to believe it exists. A hilarious movie with nice message of respecting even smallest thing on earth.

Baby’s Day Out
This is a hilarious movie about a baby’s journey whole day based on the book he read. There are villains too in this movie and as always evil peoples can’t win even from a baby. A movie which my one year son love to watch along with the 7 years old.
 
12.
Madagascar
Where some loving Zoo animals dream of escaping Zoo and actually did so and landed up in Madagascar. There journey through this unwanted adventure has many underline messages. The most evitable message will be grass is always greener on the other side.

UP
By tying thousands of balloons to his home, 78-year-old Carl sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years younger, inadvertently becomes a stowaway. How the whole story came up will blow the mind of children and adult alike.

Dolphin Tale
A lonely and friendless boy finds a hurt dolphin that is caught in a crab trap and untangles her. He becomes very attached to the dolphin when the tail must be taken off to save the dolphin's life. The boy believes the dolphin would be able to swim normally if it was given a prosthetic tail. This movie was inspired by an amazing true story.

Letters to God
A young boy fighting cancer writes letters to God, touching lives in his neighborhood and community. A very touching movie.
 
16.
Despicable Me
When a criminal mastermind uses a trio of orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme, he finds their love is profoundly changing him for the better.
 
17.
The Karate Kid
A handyman/martial arts master agrees to teach a bullied boy karate and shows him that there is more to the martial art than fighting. The theme is good enough to teach any bullying child to learn controlling his anger.
 
18.
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
Set during World War II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of an eight-year-old child whose friendship with a boy on the other side of the border started unexpected consequences.
 

19.
The Bucket List
Two terminally ill men escape from the ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die. I believe the theme itself is intriguing enough to watch.
 
20.
The blind side
The story of a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All American football player with the help of a caring woman and her family. Only recommend if your son/daughter love watching movie as the pace of the movie is bit slow probably best watch during his teen age, but if can be sit through will have many Morales to catch.
 

Bonus Five

I did not had to struggle much to find five more movies apart from already promised 20 movies. Mentioned below five movies with details mostly from IMDB, that will fit into this extended bonus list. They are the ones who missed the mark and may compete with many of the movies in the above list of 20 movies.
