Will India able to Win 2015 ICC World Cup, in Cricket?

When I wrote last time about India in the world cup, it was 2007 and India failed miserably in league matches and went back home. This time they are brilliant and defending their title of 2011. Will India become third-time world champions in Cricket? Let’s analyze.

India already won all the six league matches and ready to take their first knockout match tomorrow with Bangladesh. To win this world cup, India need to make 9 victories in a row, there is no escape from that now. So will they able to hold their champions title of 2011 in 2015 too?

With a great team comes great results and only India and New Zealand had shown their true potentials. The game will be turned when knockout stage (Quarterfinal, semifinal and final) will start. The team which will perform on that particular day will move to the next stage. It’s as simple as that.

The only thing that can stop India in this 2015 world cup will be "The Law of Average". In Cricket, every team or player got catch up with this one and there is no escape. If that shows up in Knockout stage then all hard work will be gone.

India had already won 6 matches in a row. This is the case before the start of aforementioned knockout stage. Then it will be 3 knockout matches and if statistics to be believed in last one year (2014-15), India had won seven matches in a row, only once. Remember, this is the closest team combination which is playing in this world cup too.

If you compare it from 2011 to 2015, till date (Last four year including, world cup) then India have won 7 matches in a row four times and only once eight matches in a row. The eight matches in a row, winning streak is shown below.

We cannot consider four years statistic for this case as the team India had changed a lot since then, still this will do contribute as Law of average for India.

You can check the whole four years statistics here.

so as a personal conclusion, India needs to better their continuous winning streaks this time to win the world cup. I believe they will very easily make to Semifinals and may be finals too but winning will be dependent on that day performance and also on many other factors, including this one.

Remember 2003 team world cup winning streaks? And how they performed in final. Whole team performed poorly and looked out of place, was that Law of Average, for that Indian team? Remember India's lost to South Africa in 2011 world cup, which actually did the magic to Law of Averages. You can agree or disagree regarding the theory of "The Law Of Averages" but you can't ignore it in Cricket.

India Advantageous

Every Indian cricket fans are disappointed after poor showing of India in world cup 07 at West Indies. This is pretty old statement now. As per famous statement “Blessing in Disguise” I feel there are more advantages in India not reaching in super 8 than if India would have reached the super8 stage. So all the advantages listed below assign your self as per the advantage suits you :-)

1. India’s next series is with Bangladesh in May, so if India would have reached finals so they have to play till April 28th and joy of being in finals made them complacent and would have chances to loose series against Bangladesh. Now they have full month to practice and make strategies against Bangladesh (Now India have added advantage of watching players of Bangladesh performing in super8 for there strategies). With there full confidence now they can win the whole series against Bangladesh (don’t forget this win will come in statistics as overseas victory, after all Bay Of Bengal is there in between India and Bangladesh). Winning a complete series is always better than loosing one match in world cup against Bangladesh…what say…

2. Now India is sleeping at night and sound sleep leads to sound body and mind. Probably everybody will not agree with this statement and they will say what if India is not playing we still watch world cup whole night and support some team or the other, but do you all remember the day ICC had launched the world cup 2007 timetable we all know that April 15th will be the match between India Vs Pakistan and now this match will be Bangladesh Vs Ireland. I know if you are passionate enough about cricket you will definitely going to sleep at least on 15th April night due to frustration, and as it says sleep in frustration reduce frustration :-)

3. Those people from India who are traveling to West Indies for watching there world cup matches can now still travel whole West Indies quite peacefully and comfortably without bothering about loosing there at least 7 hrs in day (I am talking on the day India would play if they had reached super eight) . Look it’s not only 7 hours if the match goes to reserve day as it’s happening for most matches then it would loss of 2 days of your travel and if by chance India would have lost that match too like for e.g. West Indies lost there match against Australia after two days of playing, then your money and time both would have lost in that case, and if you had canceled your trip to West Indies after India’s exit then anyways you had saved a lot of money. For all peoples who had not planned anything yet for travel can travel to any part of country/world with out bothering up missing much in world cup matches.

4. As this article is all about advantages so this part will also comes into picture that “one’s loss is others gain”. Remember the Pepsi Gold advertisement “World Cup Co La” now world cup will be missing from Indian scenario at least for another 4 years so what remain is “Co La” and the most famous “CoLa” left now is “CoCo CoLa”. So in other words “CoCo CoLa” got a free advertisement from there competitors “Pepsi” . :-)

5. Inline to my above point I would also like to say Cricket’s Loss is Bollywood’s gain. To justify my point lets take two three examples and my first example will always be Abhishek and Aishwarya’s marriage, I think we cricket crazy people will never give enough value to this marriage if India would be at super 8 and doing well and in that case one of the biggest marriage in Bollywood would have gone unnoticed by Indians itself. Now we all will switch to different news channels to find out the proceedings and some of us may try to be there to get the glimpse of this famous couple. Other advantages will be like all the cancelled endorsements of cricketers will go to Bollywood, as for e.g. cancellation of Videocon endorsement of Dhoni and Dravid may go to AB or SRK. Similarly all the “Saas Bahu” serials and game shows like KBC will be back into action means peoples resume watching those again during peak time of world cup matches…

6. Above all probably Indian team would able to get rid of Greg Chappell who had done only thing in his tenure is shuffling of Indian batting order till last match of world cup. In any of the cases it will be either Greg Chappell or senior cricketers will stay in Indian team but not both, and if anything happen it would be good for Indian cricket only. Both of these statements should defined under “Condition Apply” clause as it all depends totally upon so called cricketing administrators in BCCI and how they take there decisions (Proactive or Inactive Way).

7. Last but not the least look on how Bangladesh is performing or will perform in Super 8 Stage simulate this team with India (as due to them we are out of world cup now) and think of situation of Indian team would have giving very similar performances and if that would have the case then India would definitely not get all the advantages as compare to what India is getting right now. So as said…everything happens for something good only ;)
